Hello.  Welcome to Ms. Bonavida's SDC K-3 classroom.  We are going to a fun-filled year together at Horace Mann.  Here is a short bio about myself.

I am originally from Potomac, Maryland. I received my Masters Degree in Special Education at Johns Hopkins University. I also received a Masters equivalent in teaching reading at Johns Hopkins University. I taught 7 years in Maryland in both a private and public school setting. In 2007, I moved to California and taught two years in Santa Monica Unified School District in an Autism program. This is my first year teaching in Beverly Hills Unified School District. I feel very honored to be a part of the wonderful community at Horace Mann.

Please feel free to contact me via email or phone with questions or concerns.  I am here for you and your child.

The following themes will be worked on this school year.  We will be working on functional life skills, social skills, healthy diet/healthy living, community helpers, and gardening. The students will make healthy snacks by following 2-3 step recipes. My students will participate in friendship hours with their general education peers. Once a month their general education peers will join our class for art projects, games and cooking projects. So far this year, we had a winter celebration where the students made gingerbread houses together. Also, in February, students participated in a Friendship hour. The students made valentine's crafts and celebrated the 100 day of school. In March, we will be planting seeds for flowers to bloom in the spring.

Please check back soon with updates and upcoming events and activities.

Thank you!
