Fall Service Learning Activities
Students throughout the school participated in myriad activities from September through December!

Every Pre-school through Eighth grade homeroom...
participated in the Pennies for Patients Drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As a school we raised $ 2,578.55!

Mrs. Fuhrer's kindergartners...
learned about the life cycle of a butterfly, and then created stained glass butterflies to help brighten the lives of the residents of the Roze Room Hospice.

Mrs. Knowles' second graders...
listened to a book read by our school librarian, Ms. Rogaway, and then wrote friendly letters to Antonio Villaraigosa filled with suggestions on how to help the homeless in L. A.

Officer Sweet's second grade students...
took a field trip to the Beverly Hills Police station, where they saw heroism and good citizenship in action.

Ms. Crain's third graders...
worked hard to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Pennies for Patients Drive. As a class they raised $620.40! That was the highest class total for Horace Mann. In addition to raising these funds, the class also wrote get-well cards to our school's honored hero, "Cookie", who is suffering from Leukemia.

Ms. Cronk's sixth graders...
sold T-shirts in an effort to raise money to save several acres of rain forest.

Nicole, Lucas, Jesse, Abbie, Michael, Max, and Francesca...
participated as delegates in a live conference call involving kids across the nation talking about their efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Horace Mann participated as one of the two schools representing the West Coast!

participated in Safety Week activities, where they learned how to keep themselves and others safe.
