All District (Gr. 5-8) Track & Field Event @ BHHS

 

All four Beverly Hills Unified elementary/middle schools will participate in 6 Olympic Style track events (50m, 100m, 200m dash as well as the 4x100 relay, 8x200 relay, and the 4x400 relay). In addition, they will compete in 4 co-ed cooperative field events including jump rope, tug of war, softball toss, and basketball shoot. This event is being held in anticipation of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

 

These events will be preceded by an Olympic inspired mock torch run including all middle school student body presidents and vice presidents. They will run from Horace Mann to Beverly Vista to Hawthorne to El Rodeo then to the Beverly Hills High School Track Stadium. The BHPD will escort the runners along the route to the high school. There will also be a multi-cultural parade of nations involving the participants prior to the first running events.

 

VIP’s and former Olympians will attend and over 500 medals and 300 ribbons will be given to the participants. This event will be partially sponsored by the BHUSD PTA Council. Additional sponsors are needed and welcome.
