On January 29th and 30th, there will be a few special guests popping into classrooms and around our campus.  They are part of Generation Ready, a curriculum audit company.  They are non-evaluative and help to provide us with a reflection of our curriculum, teaching, assessment and school culture. They also look at the relationship between student, teacher, content, administrative support and parent involvement.

While they are taking two days to gather data, we will also have small student, teacher, and parent focus groups answering survey questions about our school.

Once we get the results of the curriculum audit, this will be shared with our school and community. Our Assistant Superintendent Dustin Seemann will also get these results and will be providing a district snap shot for us to clearly understand our school.  It will highlight our strengths and areas that may need growth.

As we continue with the growth mindset model, I want you to know that I look forward to participating in the process and celebrating what we know we do so well at Horace Mann!

Thank you and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Construction Update

We have now returned to our Historic Building A and it has reopened.  Students are using the new cafeteria, outdoor seating area, the main office and counseling services.

Many parent volunteers have helped unpack books in our Media Center/ Library.  We hope to have this open soon.

Phase 4 of construction is resurfacing the blacktop, removing the portable and creating a track for students.  We will have new basketball courts, and a wide open space for play for students.  The resurfacing of the blacktops will happen this summer of 2018.

Character Education

We continue to teach and build good character in our students.  They will be recognized in their classes in front of their peers for demonstrating the traits.  This month, we focus on teaching students about “Alertness and Action”.  In February, we will teach students “Fitness and Skill”.
