Wednesday, October 27th @ 6:30 PM
Instant messaging, Facebook, YouTube. What are kids doing on the computer? And who are they talking with? Learn about social profiling, texting, and how to keep your child safe online at our Internet Safety Night on Wednesday, October 27th @ 6:30 PM in the New PC Lab on the 2nd Floor.
This adults only event will include special guest presenter Tony Madril, LCSW, who will give a powerpoint presentation on cyber bullying. Horace Mann's Technology Teacher, Christian Fuhrer, will do a presentation on ABI and go over what every parent needs to know "as much, if not more" than their child regarding the schools computer systems. Horace Mann parent, and alumni, Adi Hacker will present on online security. Horace Mann PTA President, Howard Goldtein will present internet awareness tips.
As first-generation Internet parents, many of us are struggling to stay one step ahead of our kids and learn everything we can about going online. This isn’t an easy task—our kids have never known life without the Internet, and in many cases they know more about it than we do. Please join us as we discuss what our children are doing online and how to teach them to stay safe. You’ll learn about: The importance of learning about the sites and applications your child uses. What to do if your child is the victim of online bullying. Social networking sites and how to help your child use them wisely. Objectionable content, how to block it, and what to do if your child views it. Online gaming. Protecting your child against online predators. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 27th @ 6:30 pm and discussing this important topic.
